Data Centers Make Terrible Neighbors

The Montana Connections Park is located near the intersection of Interstates 90 and 15 in Butte. A 2 1/2 mile radius would encompass much of the urban area of Butte, including: The Historic Uptown Butte area, portions of the Butte-Anaconda National Historic Landmark district and a section of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDNST) access points, potentially including parts of Thompson Park or Stodden Park.
The radius of adverse noise effects from some data centers can be heard up to 3,000 feet, and even low-frequency noise affecting health can be detected up to 2 1/2 miles away. The noise is caused by cooling systems and servers, and its impact is more pronounced in quieter residential areas, potentially causing issues like migraines and sleep disturbance.
Low-frequency noise, which is not always audible can still affect health and well-being, Up to 2 1/2 miles away from the data center location.
Some of the most problematic noise from data centers is low-frequency, which can travel long distances and affect health even if it isn't consciously heard. The impact of data center noise is more significant in areas with less background noise, such as rural or residential zones that may have been previously agricultural.
Low-frequency noise can have negative impacts on health, even if not heard. In some cases, residents have reported migraines, nausea, and hearing loss. Noise can keep people awake and affect their sleep. The constant presence of noise can cause emotional responses.
The decision to offer land for sale has already been made, but we now see the exercise of answering questions after the fact.
